Woodhouse Ward Community First Autumn 2014

NEW ROUND OF FUNDING STARTS NOW

What is Community First?

Community First is an England-wide programme, funded by the Office for Civil Society, on behalf of the Government. It will run for four years, until March 2015. Two funds of money, worth £80m, have been created to help communities come together, become more resilient, and make their local area a better place to live.

Community First Panels: Each of the 600 areas will have their own panel, comprised of local people to represent their community. They will be involved in creating a plan for the local area, raising awareness of the funds, and planning how they will match and spend the money.

What does this mean for you?

Woodhouse Ward has been selected as one of the 600 areas to receive Community First funding. A Community First panel has been set up in your area, made up of local people. Can I apply for funding?

Funding is available for projects that meet priorities agreed in consultation with local people. Agreed priorities for the Woodhouse ward are:

  1. More things for young people to do
  2. Improved community facilities
  3. Improve the environment, making it cleaner and more appealing
  4. Reduce anti-social behaviour
  5. Local Health and Wellbeing

Please note that the closing date for this round of applications will be the 3rd October 2014.

Please remember that the funds need to be match funded pound for pound which means that every £1 provided in funding must be matched by a similar amount of in-kind donations (this means donations of cash, services, free products or volunteer time). Therefore a monetary value must be placed against every in kind donation up to the total allocated grant. You can record volunteer time as a monetary value by recording all of the hours that your volunteers spend on this project and multiplying by £11.09 per hour to give you a total in kind donation volunteer time.
